02 — Format

Fourball, modified Stableford

Players compete in teams of two and as individuals at the same time. On every hole, the better of the two team members’ scores counts toward the team total.

Scoring is modified Stableford, with extra reward for birdies, eagles and better. Points are awarded on your gross score on each hole. Double bogey or worse scores nothing — pick up and move on.

Category 1

Gross

Most Stableford points collected over the eighteen holes. No handicap adjustment — raw points, best player wins.

Category 2

Net

Your Stableford points plus your handicap, added at the end. This levels the field between low and high handicappers.

For example: a player off 18 who records eighteen bogeys scores 18 + 18 = 36. A scratch player who records eighteen pars scores 36 + 0 = 36. Even race.

03 — Keeping score

Live scores in MatchPlay

Every player enters their scores in the app as you go, so the leaderboard is live all afternoon — better-ball totals and both categories updating hole by hole.

Please also keep an old-school paper scorecard as a backup. Mark each other’s cards the traditional way and hand them in at the end.

04 — The Course

Drøbak Golfklubb

Founded in 1988 with the full eighteen opening in 1992, Drøbak is an award-winning par 70 parkland course set into wooded, rolling ground near the Oslofjord.

It measures a compact 5,138 metres — short on the card, but tight, tree-lined and well-bunkered, with water in play early on the 2nd. The back nine is unusual: not a single par 5, so the points are there to be won on the front.

05 — Afterwards

The banquet

When the last card is in, we move to a banquet at Jakob’s house — food, drinks, prize-giving for both categories and the retelling of every missed putt.

You’ll find us at Skogveien 28, 1446 Drøbak. Tick the banquet box on the form so we cater the right numbers — the timing follows by email.
